A new idea for 2027... and it is SO exciting!

We have, essentially, become zoomed out!  For all the wonders of Zoom for connecting us globally the new Summer Schools have been born out of the desire to really deeply connect in person, and to plant this work into fertile community soil. So we will be running Summer Schools at Ysgybor Moelyci (Moelcyi Barn) in Tregarth, Gwynedd, UK. The venue is perfect! We can keep the ticket costs low because we are not including overnight accomodation; you have a vast range of options from camping onsite, to local campsites, B&B and airbnb, bunk houses and hotels to suit your comfort needs and budget. The Barn is located at Ffarm Moelyci, a community project offering a farm shop, cafe, allotments, food growing projects, donkey sanctuary, easy beautiful walks and rewilding projects; located in the foothills of Eryri National Park near to mountains, lakes, rivers and the sea. Check out https://www.moelyci.org. The Barn itself has accessible toilets, a 5* rated kitchen, beautifully renovated group space and outside fire pit, lunch is included in the price of the course. We will also give you the choice to cook and eat together in the evenings for an additional contribution if you wish to join. 

13th - 19th June 2027 Ceremony and Ritual for Death and Dying (£650 / 6 x £108 monthly instalments)

18th - 24th July 2027 Community Death Educators Course  (£650 / 6 x £108 monthly instalments)

The courses are 7 full days (which will include afternoon walks and time to rest), you would arrive the day before and leave the day after... so you would be booking 8 nights accomodation unless you live local. 

CEREMONY AND RITUAL FOR DEATH AND DYING

Based on AG Derwen's first book Lost Rites: Ceremony and Ritual for Death and Dying we will deep dive into death rites and funeral rituals. Forget about the 30 minutes "pulpit and pews" at-the-crematorium model of modern funerals; this is about remembering and reimagining the ancient ways for modern times. Re-wilding ceremonial practice and working with circles, communities and co-creative practice. We will cover all the major thresholds of death and how to honour each one. This course is open to everyone interested in creative and grassroots community ritual and working with the dying, dead and bereaved. Whether you are new to the Work or an old hand in the business; all are very welcome!

COMMUNITY DEATH EDUCATORS COURSE

For anyone interested in or working in grassroots community who has a passion for death education and grief literacy. Based on AG Derwen's second book Lost Rites Community of Grief, and the successful online Community Death Educators course this in-person summer school will prepare you in practical and tangible ways to hold open spaces in communities for death and grief work; offering live sessions with the local community designed to engage conversation and raise awareness of the benefits of death consciousness, for example a death cafe, funeral poverty information session, arts and crafts sessions, ancestral memorial projects, grief walks in nature and intergenerational story sharing. The perfect space to practice group facilitation skills, managing time and potentials for conflict, holding boundaries while making space for spontaneity and really examining what it means to be an "educator" in this field.
